Comparison of FCS-MPC Strategies in a Grid-Connected Single-Phase Quasi-Z Source Inverter

This paper compares two finite-control-set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategies in the context of a grid-connected single-phase quasi-Z source inverter (SP-qZSI). Both schemes use discrete-time models inductor current and capacitor voltage for DC side, as well output on AC side. To enhance converter’s performance, given non-minimum phase characteristics long prediction horizon is implemented control. However, this nature can be highly demanding terms processing load, rendering it inapplicable some microcontrollers. address issue mitigate an alternative strategy presented that divides total number candidate solutions to evaluated into smaller segments. The performance compared using harmonic distortion (THD) simulation times evaluation metrics. results indicate proposed achieves significantly shorter than when increasing horizon. Additionally, reduction THD was observed strategy, reaching average 2.8%, which lower exhibited close 3.5%.
